Truckee River Fishing Report:
Flows have dropped, wading is easier, bugs are out, and it is summer time on the Truckee! Caddis hatches are explosive last hour before dark. Green Drakes should show themselves any day (green drake nymphs are productive now). Stonefly nymphs, caddis larvae and pupae, baetis nymphs, March Brown nymphs, and PMD nymphs have produced some nice fish is the last few weeks. Streamer fishing has also been very productive during low light periods or cloudy days. Arlo loves teaching his clients how fish streamers on the Truckee. If you are looking to up your streamer game, Arlo is the man to see.
Arlo has also upped his carp strategies. Looking for something a little different? Give sight-fishing for carp a shot. It is incredibly fun and challenging, and we have some bruisers in the Truckee River! Hot summer days are great for carp fishing.
Enjoy the weather! Get out and get your line wet!
Pyramid Lake Fishing Report:
We're coming down to the end of the season at Pyramid (trout fishing closes June 30).
As the days get longer and hotter, trout fishing winds down. Best chances at fish are in the early mornings and late evenings. Nymphing and stripping tactics are productive. Stripping flies: traditional black wooly worm, Bunny Strippers, popcorn beetles, dragonfly, and damselfly nymphs. Nymphs: Patriot Midge, Pyramid Brassie, Marabou Midge, Chan's Frostbite Midge. Bring your sunblock, gonna be hot!
